NEW YORK — The Walt Disney Co.’s “Wish” had been expected to rule the Thanksgiving weekend box office, but moviegoers instead feasted on leftovers, as “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” led ticket sales for the second weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday.Neither of the weekend’s top new releases — “Wish” and Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” — could keep up with Lionsgate’s “Hunger Games” prequel. After debuting the previous weekend with $44.6 million, the return to Panem proved the top draw for holiday moviegoers, grossing $28.8 million over the weekend and $42 million over the five-day holiday frame. In two weeks of release, “Songbirds and Snakes” has grossed nearly $100 million domestically and $200 million globally. The closer contest was for second place, where “Napoleon” narrowly outmaneuvered “Wish.”Scott’s epic outperformed expectat...Patriots rookie receiver Demario Douglas ruled out with head injury

We are now past Thanksgiving, the traditional NHL demarcation line that supposedly separates the haves and have-nots. If you are in the playoffs by this time of year, history tells us that the odds are in your favor that you’ll be in the playoffs come April. That would suggest that the Bruins, still leading the Atlantic Division by six points, are safely ensconced in the post-season for a shot at redemption from last season’s failure. But one rather larger question remains about this team.Who and what are these 2023-24 Bruins exactly? One thing they are not is a team that can outscore its defensive lapses. In their 14 wins, they’ve kept their opponent to two goals or fewer. In their six losses (three regulation, three overtime) they’ve allowed more than two. The last week was particularly ugly. In going 1-2-1, they gave up 17 goals in the three losses. We should have seen coming the lost weekend in which they allowed a dozen goals in two games. Honda is recalling select 2023-2024 Accord and HR-V vehicles due to a missing piece in the front seat belt pretensioners, which could increase injury risks during a crash.According to notices published by Honda and the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration earlier this week, the pretensioners — which tighten seat belts in place upon impact — may be missing the rivet that secures the quick connector and wire plate.Regulators say this means that passengers may not be properly restrained in a crash. The NHTSA credited the issue to an error made during assembly. More than 300,000 Accords and HR-Vs are potentially affected. For consumers impacted by this recall, dealers will inspect all cars and potentially replace the seat belt pretensioner assembly at no cost. Those who have already paid for these repairs at their own expense may also be eligible for reimbursement.EV sales on pace to set recordElectric vehicle sales are expected to hit a record 9% of all passenger vehicles in t...B.C. DUNCAN, B.C. — British Columbia’s largest First Nation has voted to take over authority of child and family services for its residents. Results of a vote held by the Cowichan Tribes show 83 per cent of the 416 citizens who cast ballots were in favour of the new law that would prioritize supports to keep children with their families or place them with relatives or in other Indigenous homes.Negotiator Robert Morales, who helped develop the new law, says the vote represents a significant step in the self-determination of the Cowichan people and the ability to decide what’s in the best interests of their children. The Cowichan Tribes, which has about 5,300 members and is based on Vancouver Island, have been negotiating for years with the federal and provincial governments on what the transition will look like.Morales says those negotiations are expected to wrap up by January and the Cowichan Tribes are hoping to take over by April 2024.He says there are about 100 children who ...4 teens from North York and Richmond Hill dead after collision in Huntsville
