ST. LOUIS - Regulating short-term rentals is one way the St. Louis City plans to tackle crime.The discussion on short-term rentals comes after another weekend of violence in downtown St. Louis. The first bill would change the application and appeals processes. The second bill will impact how short-term rental properties are being used.The bills will go before the St. Louis board of alderman at Tuesday morning's transportation and commerce committee meeting. Short-term rental parties have been a big problem over the last year or so.Many city leaders say there needs to be more rules to prevent parties from turning violent. Aldmerman Joe Vollmer will be one of the board members supporting Bills 33 and 34. He says right now Airbnb operators have no regulations. There are no inspections, requirements of having carbon monoxide detectors, etc. He thinks there should be fees and regulations for people with short-term rental properties. ST. LOUIS - Emergency crews were at the scene of a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning. The crash took place on Interstate 70 westbound at the Missouri River and Blanchette Bridge a little before 7:00 a.m. Heavy backups could be seen in the area as a car and semi-truck were heavily damaged. What to know about Missouri's gun laws The cause of the crash have not yet been revealed and so far, no injuries have been reported. The weather in metro Denver on Tuesday will be warm and dry under mostly sunny skies and no rain will fall, according to the National Weather Service.Those conditions favor the buildup of air pollution and, for the second day in a row, state health officials issued an air quality alert, warning that the concentrations of ground-level ozone likely will reach levels unhealthy for children, the elderly, and people with breathing problems.The high temperature in Denver on Tuesday will be 89 degrees, slightly above the seasonal norm, decreasing to 87 degrees on Wednesday, weather service forecasters said. At night, the temperatures will decrease to around 57 degrees. Light wind likely will blow across the city at speeds up to 11 miles per hour, with a few gusts at speeds up to 18 mph, forecasters said.On Wednesday, scattered afternoon thunderstorms may roll down from mountain foothills across Denver. A man who climbed onto a rooftop in Venice began throwing pieces of wood at first responders late Monday night.The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Main Street.A man is seen throwing wood from a rooftop in Venice on June 19, 2023. (OnScene.TV)A man being followed by police after allegedly standing on top of a Metro bus eventually climbed on top of a building that was under construction in the area. Video from the scene showed the shirtless man grabbing onto loose wires and walking around on the roof. At one point the man was picking up large pieces of wood and throwing them in the direction of Los Angeles County firefighters who were at the scene. Firefighters and police left the scene after about 90 minutes. Sickened marine mammals poisoned by an algal bloom in Southern California waters are overwhelming a local rescue organization. Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute responds to beached sea lions and other sick mammals, evaluates their condition and, if needed, attempts to nurse the animals back to health.But a recent algal bloom off the coast of Southern California is leading to more and more marine mammals getting sickened by a type of poison that is growing ever more prevalent: domoic acid toxicity. Known colloquially as the "Red Tide," domoic acid is a naturally occuring neurotoxin that is produced by blooming algae in California waters.
