SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs placed left-hander Justin Steele on the 15-day injured list on Saturday with strained left forearm.Steele, who turns 28 on July 11, has been one of Chicago’s best pitchers so far this season. He is 6-2 with a 2.65 ERA in 12 starts. He has 58 strikeouts and 16 walks in 68 innings.The Cubs also recalled catcher Miguel Amaya from Triple-A Iowa before their game at San Diego. Amaya made his big league debut last month. He went 3 for 13 with two RBIs in his first six games.Steele was removed from Wednesday’s start against Tampa Bay after three perfect innings. NAPLES, Fla. (WSVN) — A young pilot parked on a runway and took off in a plane he built. With a little help from his friends.The aircraft, unveiled Friday, was built by 11 teenagers from the Naples area.The experimental two-seater, known as the Sling 2, is the fruit of the teens’ labor as part of the Naples Youth Aviation Project.One of the teens involved in putting the aircraft together is Ali Amini.“It feels amazing, and it’s an extremely satisfying feeling to know what you built is right in front of you, to see that your work paid off,” he said.“I’m really happy because it’s something I really think I wanted to do for a long time, but I never really knew how to get into the field of aviation,” said another of the teens.The group set out to build the aircraft in 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic slowed them down.Devon Wilson is another one of the lucky 11. The local organization Florida Parents of Murdered Children held its annual All White Prayer Breakfast event in downtown Miami.This year’s event, held at the Hyatt Regency, aimed to support parents who have lost children to gun violence.Florida Parents of Murdered Children was created to provide support to families of victims, as well as create change by educating the community about gun violence.Tangela Sears, the organization’s founder, knows the pain of losing a child.
