DANVERS — For most of the spring, St. John’s Prep lacrosse standout Jake Vana had a litany of nagging injuries, struggling to get back to the level he is accustomed to playing at.Unfortunately for opposing Div. 1 schools, it appears the junior is almost fully back. Vana sniped four goals and added an assist Saturday as St. John’s Prep closed its impressive regular season with a crucial 12-9 win over Hingham.“It worked out perfectly,” said Vana. “Didn’t come back as healthy as I wanted to. I was in a lot of pain and I was trying to fight through it. But the last couple of days was probably the first time I’ve felt like myself again. This is the first game I’ve played an entire game without any pain. It seems to be going away just at the right time, knock on wood.”Entering Saturday’s tilt, St. John’s Prep (17-1) was listed as the top team overall in the MIAA’s latest Div. 1 power rankings, while Hingham (17-2) was slotted fifth, a perfect test for both programs ahead of the state tour...Latin Academy rolls to another BCL softball title

Justine Triet’s “Anatomy of a Fall” won the Palme d’Or at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in a ceremony Saturday that bestowed the festival’s prestigious top prize on an engrossing, rigorously plotted French courtroom drama that puts a marriage on trial. “Anatomy of a Fall,” which stars Sandra Hüller as a writer trying to prove her innocence in her husband’s death, is only the third film directed by a woman to win the Palme d’Or. One of the two previous winners, Julia Ducournau, was on this year’s jury. Cannes’ Grand Prix, its second prize, went to Jonathan Glazer’s “The Zone of Interest,” a chilling Martin Amis adaptation about a German family living next door to Auschwitz. Hüller also stars in that film. The awards were decided by a jury presided over by two-time Palme winner Ruben Östlund, the Swedish director who won the prize last year for “Triangle of Sadness.” The ceremony preceded the festival’s closing night film, the Pixar animation ...Accusations of violence, discrimination surface at another Mississauga school

NEW YORK (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris, the first woman to deliver a commencement speech at West Point, lauded graduating cadets Saturday for their noble sacrifice in serving their country, but noted they were entering an “unsettled world” because of Russian aggression and the rising threats from China.“The world has drastically changed,” Harris told the roughly 950 graduating cadets. On the opening day of training camp this spring, Lynx star forward Napheesa Collier noted coach Cheryl Reeve had a simple request for her this season: “Attack.”“Just making sure that I’m being really assertive with what I’m doing,” Collier told reporters. “Using the skillset that I have and keep expanding my game.”Collier is the Lynx’s best player, and No. 2 isn’t all that close. So, as the 6-foot-1 forward goes, so too do the Lynx. That was evident in Minnesota’s loss to Atlanta this week, as the 26-year-old out of UConn scored 20 points in 25 minutes, carrying the offense in the process.Collier took six shots in the final quarter of that game before fouling out with 2 minutes, 20 seconds to play. The Lynx didn’t score another point after her exit. That’s how imperative she is to what Minnesota is attempting to accomplish. So things won’t work on nights like Thursday, when Collier scored just eight points on nine shots in the Lynx̵...Gamers pack Ballpark Village for Gateway Legends tournament
