MOSCOW (AP) — Senior diplomats from Russia, Turkey, Syria and Iran wrapped up two days of talks in Moscow Tuesday, part of the Kremlin’s efforts to help broker a rapprochement between the Turkish and Syrian governments.Russian and Turkish foreign ministries issued terse readouts, saying the diplomats have discussed preparations for a planned meeting of the four countries foreign ministers. Moscow described the consultations as “frank and direct,” and Ankara said they were held in a “transparent and clear manner,” while offering no details. Russia has waged a military campaign in Syria since September 2015, teaming up with Iran to allow Assad’s government to fight armed opposition groups and reclaim control over most of the country. HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. — Five students are in custody following a lockdown Tuesday at Highland Park High School due to reports of a gun in the school.City officials said no shots were fired and the lockdown has been lifted. The lockdown was issued in the morning after a student was "potentially" in possession of a gun.Five students were taken into custody as a result and circumstances around the incident are not known at this time. NORTH ELBA, N.Y. (NEWS10) - On Saturday, April 1, New York State Forest Rangers responded to a request for aid near the Adirondack Loj campground, near Nye Mountain and Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Around 7:30 p.m., rangers were brought into contact with a group of four hikers who were stuck at Indian Pass Brook. The hikers were trapped on their way back to the Adirondack Loj by water from a swollen stream, with water running at chest height, and the group had been unable to find an alternate route around the deep and swift water.The hikers ended up staying in place for some time. Rangers advised the group to make a fire and wait for their assistance, as warm daytime temperatures gave way to evening numbers in the teens. HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Nine school districts in Washington County received bomb threats early April 4, 2023; putting the schools and Sheriff’s Office on high alert. Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy said the threats were demanding a ransom and that bombs were placed in school buildings. None of these threats were credible. Murphy said they take each threat seriously, sweeping each building with K-9s trained to sniff out explosives.
