(KRON) -- A man was found dead from a gunshot wound in a Pittsburg home on Tuesday, the Pittsburg Police Department said. PPD responded to the 900 block of Carpino Avenue for the report of a man who had been shot. After entering the residence, police found the 42-year-old victim with a gunshot wound. Officers provided medical aid, but the man was pronounced dead. 2nd teen arrested in connection to SJ hit-and-run that killed pregnant woman and baby Pittsburg police detectives are "actively following several leads," police said. Police believe the suspect knew the victim, and there is no threat to the public. Police are not releasing the victim's name because the investigation is "very active. MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama has set a January execution date for what would be the nation’s first attempt to put an inmate to death using nitrogen gas.Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on Wednesday announced a Jan. 25 execution date for Kenneth Eugene Smith using the new method. Smith was one of two men convicted in the 1988 murder-for-hire slaying of Elizabeth Sennett in northwestern Alabama. “The execution will be carried out by nitrogen hypoxia, the method previously requested by the inmate as an alternative to lethal injection,” Ivey spokesperson Gina Maiola wrote in an emailed statement.
