EVANSTON, Ill. — Evanston police said a man is in custody after he attempted to push a woman into his car Saturday morning.Around 9:45 a.m., an Evanston Police Department officer was flagged down by the woman in the 600 block of University Place. The woman told police a man just tried to push her into his car, police said. An Ojai man was convicted Friday in the double killing of a mother and daughter.A jury convicted Shawn Michael Shirck, 29, of two counts of involuntary manslaughter in a 2019 double killing.The victims, were Phyllis Porter, 82, from Georgia and her daughter, Margaret Dahl, 59, from Oak View, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.Porter was visiting her daughter at a home on the 100 block of Valley Ridge Drive in an unincorporated area between Ojai and Oak View.Dahl was in a long-term relationship with the homeowner and cared for the home when he was away.The homeowner had four sons, one of whom was Shirck. Although Shirck had previously lived in the home with Dahl, he had moved out weeks earlier before her stay, officials said. A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday morning in Riverside following a crash with another vehicle.The crash happened around 12:15 a.m. near the intersection of Indiana Avenue and Madison Street, according to the Riverside Police Department.Police and paramedics arrived on scene and found a motorcyclist down with major injuries. That person was pronounced dead at the scene.They've been identified only as a 66-year-old resident of Riverside.Investigators believe that the crash was caused by a 2010 Lexus sedan that turned in front of the motorcyclist on Indiana Avenue. The Lexus remained on scene and has been cooperating with the investigation, police said.The driver and two occupants in the Lexus were uninjured. A passenger riding on the back of the motorcycle suffered moderate injuries.The crash is under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact Riverside Police Traffic Detective M. A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in Rialto Thursday.The pedestrian, identified as 35-year-old Marvin Molina of Rialto, was hit on the 900 block of N. Riverside Avenue around 8:40 p.m.According to the Rialto Police Department, Molina was walking across the roadway outside of a crossing walk when he was hit by a Nissan Sentra driven by a 34-year-old San Bernardino woman.Police arrived at the scene minutes later and found Molina dead from his injuries. The driver of the Sentra was uninjured. She remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. After a “suspicious package” was found at the San Francisco International Airport early Sunday afternoon, a terminal was evacuated, flights were diverted, and passengers were left in the dark until police cleared the area three hours later.As of 2:40 p.m., the area was being re-opened and regular operations were being resumed, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
